My 24 hour digital footprint beach

 

Today for Cyber smart we did a smart footprint.For this task we had to

put all of the pictures that we have gone on for the last 24 hours like our gmail,

drive and other websites.

Farewell Mr Botha

Today is a very sad day because Mr Botha one of the teachers are leaving us so we an special assembly to say thank you and other things like giving him cards dancing to the song Jerusalema because Mr Botha is south African.In this photo at least one person has to give Mr Botha a lollielane, that person that is giving a lollielane to Mr Bother he is one of my friends.A few students that was in his class last year wrote something for Mr Bother it was very emotional and to honest I was about to cry like three times. 

 In this photo everyone quickly goes into their places and Mr Bother is thinking that it is the end but he walks outside and we all celebrate.We give him high fives and at the end all of the year 7&8 did a haka for Mr Botha before he leaves at the end Mr Botha had a few tears and we wish Mr Botha a safe trip where ever he is going and Mr Botha can visit our school any time he wants.

Like we say at our school once Ruapotaka family ALWAYS Ruapotaka family. 

Caged bird

 For today we did writing about a poem called caged bird by Maya Angelou and we have to answer all of the question. 

Identify the speaker of the poem. 

Malachi:Someone who speaks of freedom.

Hone :A person who is trying to break free 

What is the speaker’s tone? 

Malachi:Mostly negative with some positive

What vocabulary is used (diction), which reveals the speaker’s tone? 

Pita: seldom, bars of rage, grave of dreams, fearful trill.

What is the connotation, implied or true meaning of each word ? 

What stanzas are repeated? 

Malachi: the 3rd and 6th paragraph

Why are they repeated? 

Pita: they are repeated to see how the bird feels when he’s being locked up and free to go.

Identify FOUR symbols from the poem which are used to stand for bigger ideas than their literal meaning? 

Malachi: Grave of dreams: means that your dreams are dead and there is no hope for you.

Malachi: The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still:means that he doesn’t know what it is but he still wants it.    

What is the central idea of a poem? 

Pita: The story was about a bird that is trapped in a cage and also a free bird. 

I also think that this was a story about the man who assaulted Maya Angelo. I think that she wrote the poem caged bird because of that man who attacked her.

State central idea in one sentence. 

Hone: The central idea of this poem highlights the differences of being free and being trapped by the circumstances of one’s situation  

Last question: Based on what we know about Angelou’s life, what are the possible connections between Angelou’s life and her poem “Caged Bird”? 

Pita: Maya Angelou wrote this caged bird because she got assaulted when she was 8 years old and the man who assaulted her was found and sentenced by the judge. 

Malachi:That Maya Angelou is the caged bird and that man that was pita talking about he only got one day of jail for some reason but he got killed or murder after he was released from jail.When he got killed Maya went mute.

Today me and my friends made origami.We made a butterfly,shark and a flower.

Funny story about the shark it was a boat but then it turned out to be a shark. 

I used to, But now poem

 

Today for writing I did a poem about I used to, But now and we had to do 10 ideas for the poem.The poem is basically is about what you used to do things but now you have changed, and I wrote this poem all by myself.

My week last week

On Monday and Tuesday last week most of my family was sick.Then on Wednesday we packed our things for Hamilton and also we cleaned the house before we went to Hamilton.On the way to Hamilton  

Here we are in car heading to Hamilton and we are in mount wellington, and also if anyone is wondering what I am eating I am eat a little bit of jerky I thought that I was going to like it but then in the end I hated it because it tasted like blood.(maybe because my gum was bleeding).

Here we are in Hamilton in our air BNB after one of our serves.Funny story why there's so many people in our house, so we invited 8 or 7 people to our house then out of no where people just started to rush in and we ended up with 40 persons in our house.I'm sorry that the picture is upside down but that is the way that my mum took the photo.

This was also on the last day we got to stay in Hamilton before we had to come back in Auckland.

Cybersmart Writing Session: What If?

 

2 weeks ago our writing/cybersmart session was a fun and silly one. Writing can be fun and silly, but things that shouldn't be silly in our writing includes accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar - thanks for lesson and reminder, Mr Goodwin!
